Video games are for everyone: young and old, famous and ordinary. Gone are the days when video games were seen as an outlet solely for kids and nerds, as anyone and everyone plays them in some fashion. This even includes the most famous celebrities in existence. 

You could have a common interest with your favorite star via the gaming industry. These people aren't just spending time playing games occasionally on their mobile devices. They're serious fans of video games who like to play on their dedicated gaming PC or console. You might be surprised by who you could come across in the latest multiplayer game. 

1. Seth Rogen

Long before he joined the cast of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Seth Rogen was answering questions about his gamer past. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he talked about his Commodore 2000 upbringing and his appreciation for “Hollywood games” like GoldenEye 007 and Spider-Man 2. He also admitted to getting “decimated” in Call of Duty and, in 2013, played the opening segment of The Last of Us in a partnership with IGN.

2. Dave Bautista

Dave Bautista is more than just a wrestler and a surprisingly good actor. He's a gamer at heart. He worked with The Coalition to bring his likeness to Gears 5 as a multiplayer skin and has been throwing obvious hints that he would be down to star in a live-action Gears of War movie. Bautista also had a hand in marketing Mortal Kombat (2023), despite not having a role in it.

3. Tom Holland

Tom Holland is a self-proclaimed gamer, with his favorite game being Uncharted 4. This love for the PlayStation and Naughty Dog-developed series even pushed him to play the leading role in the film adaptation of Uncharted. Holland has also dabbled in the quirky multiplayer romp Fall Guys and showed excitement for the Potterverse title, Hogwarts Legacy. He's been quite vocal about his fandom for Naughty Dog, even going so far as to say he'd love to star in a Jadk and Daxter movie.

Drake may be known for his popular rap songs and immense controversy, but it turns out that he plays games quite often. He is a massive reason for the eventual success of Fortnite content creator Ninja since he was seen playing with him on Twitch years back and broke viewership records in the process. The budding bromance between Drake and Ninja became a meme that even Twitch jumped on

Fortnite isn't Drake's only game of choice, though. In fact, according to Murda Beatz, who produced Drake's Nice for What,” the track was conceptualized while playing NBA 2K.  

5. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus frequently plays video games when not bringing out billboard-defining hits. This led to a hilarious revelation that she is one of the few owners of the failed Wii U console and an overall fan of Nintendo games. Along with being a fan of video games, Cyrus has been featured in several, including several of her tracks appearing in the Just Dance series or SiNG PARTY.

6. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson has had his fair share of publicly showing his love for video games. When not slicing up droids or fighting snakes on aircraft, he likes to chill in immersive games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, where he is even featured as a character. Jackson also hosted the Spike Video Game Awards and admitted to having grown up playing “lots of video games.”

7. Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill didn't play Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher series for nothing. He is a massive fan of the actual video game series and even created his own top-end gaming PC to let him enjoy playing all of the roleplaying games and first-person shooters he desires. Cavill has also talked often of his love for Warhammer 40K.

The star of White Chicks and host of America's Got Talent doesn't hide his love for video games. Though he grew up with Pac-Man, Galaga, and a host of other arcade cabinets, his modern love for gaming can be attributed to wanting to be closer to his son. Crews also played Battlefield 1 on Conan O'Brien's “Clueless Gamer” segment, starred in Crackdown 3, and participated in a Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc stream on Twitch with his son to raise money for the American Red Cross.

9. Elijah Wood

It's no surprise that Frodo himself is one of the biggest nerds in Hollywood. In the last couple of years, Elijah Wood has been known to spend many hours decking his island and visiting other players out in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In 2018, Wood was revealed to have been working with Ubisoft Montreal to develop Transference, a virtual reality horror title.

As one of the wealthiest people on Earth, it should be no surprise that Elon Musk has also delved into numerous tech hobbies, such as playing video games. He often lists some of his favorite games, such as Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, and Half-Life 2. He likes games so much that he even made some higher-end Tesla cars compatible with streaming games on the main screen. Despite the series' incredible popularity, Musk revealed that he didn't enjoy Grand Theft Auto because he “didn't like doing crime.”

11. Mila Kunis

When she was younger, Mila Kunis was known to spend way too much time playing games like World of Warcraft. While her obsession took up much of her free time, it also led to her working with her World of Warcraft guild to develop Armored Kingdom Media, Inc. The Web3-powered experience spans a trading card game, animations, digital comics, and more. While promoting Spy Who Dumped Me, Kunis admitted that kids have greatly reduced her gaming time, though she has lent her voice to the industry for games like Saints Row.

Ice-T played crucial roles in past video games, including Mad Dogg in San Andreas and Aaron Griffin in Gears of War 3. These roles came directly from his love of games and even pushed him to contribute to various video game soundtracks over the years. It wasn't entirely unheard of to even come across the Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit star in Gears of War's multiplayer. 

13. Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig might be one of the busiest actors in Hollywood these days, but that doesn't stop him from taking some time off to enjoy a relaxing hobby of video games occasionally. Some notable titles he's played include Halo and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the latter of which he can't play for too long without feeling “dirty.” Even the hit mobile game Among Us was featured in his leading 2022 movie, Glass Onion.

Even amid his training as one of history's most excellent Olympian swimmers, Michael Phelps played the latest Call of Duty title for hours. There was even a point where he claimed to play games for a couple of hours daily. Phelps also starred in a live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare alongside Danny McBride.

He enjoys games enough that he is not even too big to star in games, such as playing The Foundation in Fortnite. Rumor has it that Johnson will be starring in the second Mortal Kombat live-action movie.

There were even some notable incidents in the past regarding him and games, such as being late to a gig once because of staying up playing games too much and even performing an in-game concert in the mobile title Garena Free Fire

Shazam actor Zachary Levi is no stranger to video games. He has revealed his gaming passions, noting that he likes to play games like Gears of War and, most recently, Destiny 2. Not only does Levi enjoy playing, he's lent his voice to several games, including Halo: ReachFallout: New Vegas, Kingdom Hearts III, and Grounded.

While he may not be as transparent about it these days, Zac Efron is an actor who has spent many hours playing games like Halo 3. He even surprised fans at the game's launch by selling the first copy himself. The High School Musical star even drew a bit of buzz in 2010 when then-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens threatened to dump him for playing too many video games.

He also stars in The Super Mario Bros. Movie as Bowser.
